چکیده

The LSPM-north catalog is a comprehensive list of 61,977 stars north of the J2000 celestial equator that have proper motions larger than 0.15 seconds of arc per year (local-background-stars frame). The catalog has been generated primarily as a result of our systematic search for high proper motion stars in the Digitized Sky Surveys using our SUPERBLINK software. At brighter magnitudes, the catalog incorporates stars and data from the Tycho-2 Catalogue and also, to a lesser extent, from the All-sky Compiled Catalogue of 2.5 million stars. The LSPM catalog expands considerably over the old Luyten (LHS, NLTT) catalogs, superseding them for northern declinations. Positions are given with an accuracy .100 mas at the 2000.0 epoch, and absolute proper motions are given with an accuracy of ≈8 mas yr−1. Corrections to the local-background-stars proper motions have been calculated, and absolute proper motions in the extragalactic frame are given. Whenever available, we also give optical BT and VT magnitudes (from TYCHO-2, ASCC-2.5), photographic BJ, RF, IN magnitudes (from USNO-B1 catalog) and infrared J, H, Ks magnitudes (from 2MASS). We also provide an estimated V magnitude and V − J color for nearly all catalog entries, useful for initial classification of the stars. The catalog is estimated to be over 99% complete at high Galactic latitudes (|b > 15|), and over 90% complete at low Galactic latitudes (|b > 15|), down to a magnitude V = 19.0, and has a limiting magnitude V = 21.0. All the northern stars listed in the LHS and NLTT catalogs have been re-identified, and their positions, proper motions and magnitudes re-evaluated. The catalog also lists a large number of completely new objects, which promise to expand very significantly the census of red dwarfs, subdwarfs, and white dwarfs in the vicinity of the Sun. Subject headings: astrometry — surveys — stars: kinematics — solar neighborhood — stars: white dwarfs — stars: Population II

Nearby Stars from the Lspm-north Proper Motion Catalog. I. Main Sequence Dwarfs and Giants within 33 Parsecs of the Sun

A list of 4,131 dwarfs, subgiants, and giants located, or suspected to be located, within 33 parsecs of the Sun is presented. All the stars are drawn from the new LSPM-north catalog of 61,976 stars with annual proper motions larger than 0.15 yr−1. Trigonometric parallax measurements are found in the literature for 1,676 of the stars in the sample; photometric and spectroscopic distance moduli a...

The Lick Northern Proper Motion (NPM) program, a two-epoch (1947–1988) photographic survey of the northern two-thirds of the sky (δ −23 •), has measured absolute proper motions, on an inertial system defined by distant galaxies , for 378,360 stars from 8 B 18. The 1993 NPM1 Catalog contains 148,940 stars in 899 fields outside the Milky Way's zone of avoidance. The 2003 NPM2 Catalog contains 232...

WIYN Open Cluster Study. XVII. Astrometry and Membership to V = 21 in NGC 188.

We present techniques for obtaining precision astrometry using old photographic plates from assorted large-aperture reflectors in combination with recent CCD Mosaic Imager frames. At the core of this approach is a transformation of plate/CCD coordinates into a previously constructed astrometric reference frame around the open cluster NGC 188. This allows us to calibrate independently the Optica...

Revised Coordinates and Proper Motions of the Stars in the Luyten Half-second Catalog

We present refined coordinates and proper-motion data for the high proper-motion (HPM) stars in the Luyten Half-Second (LHS) catalog. The positional uncertainty in the original Luyten catalog is typically greater than 1000 and is often greater than 3000. We have used the digital scans of the POSS I and POSS II plates to derive more accurate positions and proper motions of the objects. Out of th...

Proper-motion Study of Tiie Magellanic Clouds Using Spm Material

Absolute proper motions are determined for stars and galaxies to V = 17.5 over a 450 deg2 area that encloses both Magellanic Clouds. The proper motions are based on photographic and CCD observations of the Yale/San Juan Southern Proper Motion program, which span a baseline of 40 years. Multiple, local relative proper-motion measures are combined in an overlap solution using photometrically sele...
